Today’s Topic: What was the first candy you ever tried?
I can’t imagine anyone really knows that, though it was probably a sucker of some sort. I imagine that is the truth because suckers are the first candy I remember my sister being able to taste. They are the safest for young children, I suppose. They are large and can be licked and tasted without swallowing.
I remember those huge all day suckers. As big as our heads in swirly rainbow colors. I can’t remember how they taste, probably just like sugar. The appeal was in those bright colors and the thought of getting to suck on them all day long.
They never lasted all day, of course. Within an hour and the sucker, covered with dust and dirt (the joys of playing outside), was in the trash and we, covered with sticky, were in a bath.
